Shannon Panaro: An Open Letter to the Residents of Belmont

Election Day is Wednesday March 18

To the voters of the Village of Belmont,

Over the past several months, I have had the opportunity to meet many of you, listen to your concerns, and talk about the future of our village. As Election Day approaches on Wednesday, March 18th  at the Village Hall from 12-9pm, I wanted to take a moment to share why I decided to run for Village Trustee and what I hope to contribute to our community.

I returned to Belmont because I love this village. Belmont’s history, its character, and the people who call it home make it a special place. Over the last 3 years, I have volunteered hundreds of hours at the Belmont Legion and helped raise nearly $15,000 to support our local Veterans and community members. I have also been involved in conversations about preserving some of Belmont’s historic buildings, because I believe once these pieces of our past are gone, they cannot be replaced.

Professionally, I bring more than 25 years of experience working in marketing and helping small businesses grow. Throughout my career, I have worked with thousands of small businesses as well as major organizations across Western New York and the US. That experience has taught me how important a strong local economy is to the health of a community.

If elected as Village Trustee, my focus will be on preserving the character and history of Belmont while also preparing our village for responsible growth. I believe we can strengthen our tax base by encouraging small, locally focused businesses that fit Belmont’s historic charm—without raising property taxes on our residents.

Belmont is a peaceful village, and I believe strongly that any future development should respect the quiet way of life that people value here. Thoughtful planning, the reuse of existing buildings, and seeking outside funding and grants whenever possible can help us move forward without placing unnecessary burdens on local taxpayers.

This election offers voters an important opportunity to choose leadership that reflects both respect for our past and a thoughtful vision for our future. I would be honored to serve Belmont and work with residents, local organizations, and fellow board members to ensure our village continues to be a place we are proud to call home.

Thank you to all who have trusted me with their support so far. Additionally, Thank you for taking the time to consider my candidacy and for caring about the future of Belmont. You can learn more about me and my vision for Belmont at https://www.shannonforbelmont.com/
