Friends Foundation announces $2000 scholarship for Allegany County students

The Friends of Allegany Arc Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of its 18th Annual Scholarship, supporting students pursuing careers that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

This scholarship opportunity is open to Allegany County high school seniors and Arc Allegany-Steuben associates who are entering college and pursuing a degree in a related field. Eligible areas of study include Human Services, Special Education, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), Physical Therapy, Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), and Speech Therapy.

Established in 1995, the Friends of Allegany Arc Foundation was created to ensure adequate financial resources exist to protect and expand opportunities for people served by The Arc Allegany-Steuben. The Friends Board provides funding to promote and enhance services that improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified applicant. Applications must be typed or printed legibly and received by May 6, 2026, to be considered. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes with appropriate signatures. Letters may be provided by teachers, advisors, employers, coaches, or other community members familiar with the applicant’s academic or community involvement. Letters from relatives will not be accepted.
