A GoFundMe has been established as family faces $1 million in medical debt

From Tom Hyslip, Wellsville native, WHS Class of 1989

On February 16, 2026, we lost a truly wonderful man. Mark Wurster, WHS Class of 1992, passed away after a week-long, intensive battle in the ICU. While we are all heartbroken by this loss, my heart goes out most deeply to his family—his wife, Erin Rina, and his daughters, Chelsea, Elizabeth, and Rachael.

Mark was a devoted husband and father who lived for his family. Now, in the wake of his passing, they are left not only with an unimaginable void but also with a staggering financial burden. Due to the level of emergency care Mark received, the medical bills are projected to reach upwards of one million dollars.

Why I Am Raising These Funds

I am starting this GoFundMe to ensure that Rina and the girls can focus on grieving and honoring Mark’s legacy without the crushing weight of these medical debts hanging over them. No family should have to face a financial crisis while mourning the loss of a husband and father.

Your donations will go directly to Rina and the girls to help cover:

Extensive ICU and hospital expenses from Mark’s final week.

Funeral and memorial service costs to give Mark the farewell he deserves.

How You Can Help

If you knew Mark, you knew how much he cared for his friends. Now is our chance to show that same care to his family. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every dollar helps ease the burden for Rina and his daughters. Visit GoFundMe Page now.

Please consider sharing this page with your network and keeping the Wurster family in your prayers.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for helping support a family that means so much to all of us.
