Seven important community group efforts approved for funding

The Allegany County Area Foundation Grant Committee meets every two months to review applications and consider how it may help with community needs. At its December meeting, the committee approved the following grants:
Angelica Community Radio – $2000 (Joseph Bucher Fund) For the purchase of audio equipment for use at community events. This request was shared with the Angelica Boosters organization.
Babcock Theater Preservation Society – $2776 (Charles and Lorraine Joyce Family Fund) For purchase of and training on equipment that will be used for Documenting Wellsville, an effort to digitize, preserve, and protect artifacts from the historic Babcock Theater. The Thelma Rogers Genealogical and Historical Society will similarly use the equipment for the digitization of its extensive collection of local records.

Cuba Fire Dept – $1000 (Joseph Bucher Fund) For a utility trailer needed to transport UTV (off-road) rescue vehicle.
Catherine Schuyler Chapter NSDAR – $1000 (Joseph Bucher Fund) For the DAR’s America 250 monument planned for Angelica’s Park Circle.
Comfort House of Allegany County – $1000 (Charles and Lorraine Joyce Family Fund) To repair ceiling damage to one of the facility’s family bedrooms.
Houghton Academy – $500 (Allegany Fund) Support for senior play.
Rushford Free Library – $639 ($100 Moogan Fund; $539 Allegany Fund) For a secure, weather-proof outdoor drop box needed during construction of the library’s new facility.
