The ice and the snow pack in much of Western New York is about to turn to slush and water. A major storm system has arrived and will bring rain all day Sunday December 28.
Temperatures will rise in to the mid-40’s by 6pm and then drop back near freezing by midnight.
Low lying areas can expected standing water and ice jams in local creeks and rivers is a strong possibility.
The flood watch extends until late afternoon on December 29th.
The combination of snow and ice turning into slush and rain, then back to ice could make for travel hazards throughout WNY.
