Some of the top elected offices in the county were before voters. The County Treasurer, the County Judge, and all the County Legislators all were elected being unopposed except for a lone challenger for a legislative seat in District 3. Congrats to the winners but also to the challenger for the lonely effort.
In District 2, all three legislators will be starting their first full four-year term on the board. Bill Meunier and former Sheriff Rick Whitney will start January 1st. Charles Bessette has been serving on the board since being appointed earlier this year to fill a vacancy.
In District 4, Longtime legislators Gary Barnes and Steven Havey will return to serve another term. Former legislator and former Vice-Chairman Kevin LaForge is back representing Wellsville/Andover/Ward after eight years has passed since his initial term.
In Districts 1 and 5, all incumbent legislators were re-elected without opposition.
The Town of Wellsville Board will welcome back longtime board member Patricia Graves to continue her years of service. A new face, the youngest candidate elected to public office in Allegany County in decades, maybe ever is Justine Dodaro. The almost 26 year old will be sworn into office on January 1st.
In the village of Andover, two-term Mayor David Truax was denied a third term by Democratic challenger Tom Davis. Davis took nearly 80% of the vote in a definative decision by village voters. The two seats open on the village board of trustees will be filled by Michael Stone and Matthew Zengerle.
In the Town of Alfred, two Democratic candidates will join the town council on January 1. Kate Rogers and Kathleen Benzaquin received 40% and 42% of the vote respectively.
