Music and magic in Wellsvile NY!! Free family fun!
From the David A. Howe Public Library,
With autumn upon us, things are picking up in the Nancy Howe Auditorium at the David A. Howe Library.

A series of live events kicks off on Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m., with Singer/Songwriter Night, which features a slate of six local musicians. Roger Pettengill envisioned this night but has since turned the reins over to Eric Scutt, also known as Buckwheat, who regularly performs at open mic nights in the area. The other artists featured in this showcase will be Josh Whiteman, Gabriel Malcolm, Devon Reagan, Kathie Martin, and Andy Glanzman.
The very next morning, on Saturday, October 4, at 10:30 a.m., the library will welcome Bob Mangels and Heidi Lawton as The Magicians. Bob and Heidi have been entertaining the young and young-at-heart with magic shows across Western New York for the past several years. Bob can also be heard daily on Classic Hits/Oldies Radio WJQZ 103.5FM.

Next up is extraordinarily talented classical guitarist, Peter Fletcher, who will perform on Thursday, October 9, at 7 p.m. Peter released his 10th CD, Peter Fletcher in Concert, on February 18 and has been touring it coast to coast all year. Peter last performed at the Nancy Howe Auditorium in April 2024 and the library welcomes his return.
Sarah McQuaid will round out the live performances in October, performing on Thursday, the 23rd, at 7 p.m. With her lush, velvety voice, engaging personality, and brilliant musicianship on acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and (occasionally) drum, Sarah creates a truly immersive experience. Her live performances are full of warmth, wit, and intimacy, and have earned her loyal followings on both sides of the Atlantic. From contemplative ballads to playful blues to atmospheric instrumentals, Sarah’s music invites reflection, connection, and a deep appreciation of the quiet power of a well-crafted song.

These shows are all free and open to the public. The three concerts in October are made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered in Wyoming and Allegany counties by the Arts Council for Wyoming County. All four shows benefit from the support of the greater Wellsville community.
