The Howe Gallery at the David A. Howe Public Library will host Allegany Impressions: Oil Paintings of Allegany County, a new exhibit by local artist Jeff Babbitt, running September 1–26, 2025.

A resident of Fillmore, NY, Babbitt’s recent work draws inspiration from the familiar scenery of Allegany County: “I’ve found that the places I’m most interested in painting are the everyday scenes I see on my drive to work and on trips around the county. It’s the ordinary scenes I pass by that inspire me the most.”

The exhibit features oil paintings capturing the countryside around Fillmore, Centerville, Granger, Caneadea, Angelica, and beyond. Selected drawings and pastels are also on display.

The public is welcome to attend the opening reception on Saturday, September 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Guests can meet the artist, enjoy refreshments, and hear brief remarks from Babbitt at 6:30 p.m.

The David A. Howe Public Library is located at 155 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY. Gallery hours are Monday–Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Allegany Impressions is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, administered by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
