Local group forms unincorporated association in response to recent revaluations
From the Wellsville Property Owners Association – WPOA,
Was your property in the town of Wellsville recently reassessed at a level you would describe as “excessive” or “unfair?” Did you file a grievance form with the town assessor? Did you fail to file that form but still feel the assessment should be challenged?
Well, you aren’t alone. Over fifty property owners in the town of Wellsville filed to formally contest the new assessment conducted by Assessor Tim “Joe” Dannheim and family.
So far multiple residential and at least one commercial property owner have filed action in state court to demand a fair shake. More property owners are in the process of filing either a Small Claims Assessment Review(SCAR) or an Article 7 petition for commercial properties.
Very Important: The DEADLINE TO FILE is JULY 31, 2025.
If you don’t act now, no other avenue to contest this assessment is available until next year.
A group of property owners have joined together to help each other use the legal channels available to seek a fair and accurate assessment. Many in this group, the Wellsville Property Owners Association, have gone through the entire process so far. We have visited the assessor for an informal meeting, we have filed paperwork, have appeared at the Board of Assessment Review, and we have engaged with multiple law firms to advise and consider litigation.
