Robert Harold “Cabobobo” Guild, 76, passed away on March 24, 2025 surrounded by family after his fight with Alzheimer’s.
Born on March 22, 1949, in Hornell, New York, to parents Harold and Martha (Zschoche) Guild. Robert was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He graduated from Corning Community College in 1970 and went on to build a successful career as a Prudential insurance agent for 25 years. In 1996, he moved to the North Georgia Mountains, where he pursued self-employment until his well-earned retirement.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His family was always at the center of his world. Married to his beloved wife Catherine for 54 years, he cherished every moment spent with her and their children and grandchildren. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and taking them on vacations, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Affectionately known as “Cabobobo” and “Fun Bobby,” Robert had an infectious sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh and smile. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and golfer. Cooking was another passion of his, and he delighted in preparing meals for those he loved. Cruises were among his favorite pastimes, offering him the chance to explore new places while enjoying time with family and friends. The North Georgia Mountains held a special place in his heart—he never tired of stepping onto his deck each day to take in the breathtaking view.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Catherine; son Michael (Jessica) Guild; daughter Christine (Michael) Rehtus; grandchildren Trevor Guild, Brady Guild, and Riley Rehtus; brother John (Carol) Guild; sisters Joan (Gordon) Fox and Caroline (Jerry) Ernst; as well as multiple nieces, great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Martha Guild and his brother-in-law David Neale.
A celebration of life will be held on May 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Stables at Brasstown Resort, located at 6321 U.S. 76 in Young Harris, Georgia.
Robert’s legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests either donations be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or planting a tree in his memory.
