Arthur Firstenberg passed away at his Santa Fe home last week at the age of 74
A COLUMN By Frederick Sinclair
This is to recognize the contributions of Arthur Firstenberg, a scientist, journalist, healer and author of two books “The Invisible Rainbow” and recently published, “The Earth and I.” Born in 1950, Arthur, in his youth, honed his wilderness skills in upstate New York, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Newfoundland. He became an accomplished outdoorsman and observer of nature. He spent time on the coast of Norway on small farms and living among traditional Maya in Guatemala. Arthur graduated from Cornell University with concentrations in physics, mathematics, ancient civilization and foreign language. He became a talented philosopher and was accomplished at conveying science through the art of pros. Tragically, as a young man; Arthur was injured by an overexposure to dental x-rays and subsequently, during surgical training in med school, was stricken with extreme sensitivity to the electromagnetic fields present during performance of medical procedures. The reactions were serious enough that he had to withdraw from the program but was required to write a thesis to maintain his college standing. The topic he chose was the effects of electromagnetic fields on biological systems. Subsequent research and the thesis set him on a course that would guide the remainder of his life.

Arthur happened to be living in NYC in the 1970’s with the advent cell phone usage and the erection of microwave towers and antennas. The broadcasting of 2G telecommunications frequencies caused him to become ill enough that he had to leave the city. He went to California and stayed until the same illness occurred from an increase in 3G infrastructure forced him vacate again. After several subsequent escapes from illness, Arthur settled in New Mexico where he dedicated his life to raising awareness of impacts from exposure to what is currently recognized by experts and the medical community as Electromagnetic Radiation Spectrum (EMR-S). Even previously unaffected areas of New Mexico have now become exposed to 4GLTE , 5G and satellite wireless communications to the extent that Arthur was mounting legal challenges to prevent becoming ill from exposures. He sadly had to concede “I am not running, there is no place left to hide.” Arthur Firstenberg passed away at his Santa Fe home last week at the age of 74. He is mourned by those who knew and loved him and well remembered by those who have benefitted by his books and tireless activism as founder of the world wide Cellular Phone Task Force.
“Firstenberg’s work reshapes our understanding of electricity and its biological impact, criticizes the unchecked expansion of wireless technology and calls for a precautionary approach to wireless radiation exposure. In his book The Earth and I, he asks “Who are we really? What is our relationship to the earth? How is it possible that we out of all the millions of species have come to destroy our common home? He has observed that before the electrification of society, diabetes, heart disease and cancer were rare relative to exponential increases in the sixties and into present day. In a recent interview, he discussed how the earths N-S magnetic lines support the existence of an electric field between the earth and sky that is connected to and runs through our bodies. Changes and impacts to that field have been proven to affect biological function, yet we continue to pretend these pathways don’t exist. Arthur concludes that with microwave frequencies it is not so much the power level, as it is the distorting and disruptive form and shape of the erratically pulsing beam forming technologies used in modern digital telecommunications. These wave forms are very different from the smooth sign curve our biology, existing in concert with the earth’s field, is used to. In what might have been his last interview, six weeks after his latest book was published, Arthur Firstenberg warned humanity that “Electromagnetic pollution is the greatest threat to all life on earth.”
