A spokesperson from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation(DEC) has been in contact with this site and can confirm an official announcement is coming, hopefully next week, on this new public property. What can be confirmed is that over three hundred acres is now in DEC control and they have been working on a parking area and access points to the forest.

Ron Wightman, Town Supervisor of Willing:

“It is always good to have some good news. I have had a conversation with the DEC and they will be issuing a news release shortly. All I know at this time is that it will be a state wildlife management area. So hunting, fishing and hiking. It is about 310 acres and borders the Genesee River.”

Stay tuned for details as they arrive from the NYS DEC.
