Lonny M. Carlin, 81, of North Branch Road passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 unexpectedly at home. He was born on December 2, 1940 in Cuba, the son of the late Merle B. and Leona Bell (Carney) Carlin. On October 2, 1960 in Massena, NY, he married his high school sweetheart, Rita Kirkey, who predeceased him on October 8, 2021
He attended both Friendship and Massena Central Schools. He was employed by his father-in-law as a carpenter for many years. He also worked for Friendship Dairies, Blade’s Construction, and was self-employed as a carpenter and painter. He loved gardening, tractors, mowing, and fishing.
He is survived by: three daughters, Amber (Dennis) Stocum of Friendship, Michelle (Mike) Stocum of Corning, and Cammi (Robert) Granato of Auburn; a son, Ronny (Karina) Carlin of Friendship; twelve grandchildren, Jared, Shannon, Serena, Ashley, Michael, Quinn, Raychel, Kaiyia, Ronny Jr., Fred, Amanda, Kyle, and Kaleb; forty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a special-sister-in-law Geraldine “Cookie” Kirkey of Illinois; a brother, Dale (Jeannine) Carlin of Cuba; a special niece, Michele (Fernando) Garcia of Oceanside, CA; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved beagle, John.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by: a daughter, Kelly Sue Carlin; a brother, Larry Carlin; and a beloved nephew, Kurt Kirkey.
