Theresa Ann Ives, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Friday (November 6, 2026) at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following a brief illness.

Mrs. Ives was born on July 2, 1957 in Wellsville to Clinton Adelbert and Marilyn Ann (Henry) Perry, Jr. She attended Allentown Free Union School in Alma  before transferring to Scio Central School, ultimately earning her GED. On December 18, 1972, after asking her parents for permission to marry at 15, she married the love of her life, Monte Jay Ives in Delaware, MD, who survives.

Theresa devoted her time to the needs of her husband and family. She worked part-time for many years as a laundry sorter for Argentieri Brothers, Inc. in Wellsville and doing farming chores for McCormick’s Farms in Andover.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Theresa is survived by three children, Angie (Darryl) Whitcomb of Buffalo, Tony Ives and Kristie (Brandon) Corbett, both of Wellsville; four siblings, Douglas (Wendy) Perry and Daniel (Sue) Perry, both of Scio, Michael (Dawn) Perry of Wellsville and Roxanne (George “Bucky” Lewis) Perry of Pikeville, NC; one daughter-in-law, Susie Ives; her Aunt Ruthanne Perry of Wellsville; her Uncle Bob and Aunt Paula Henry of Victor; a life-long best friend, Pam Hutchison of Angelica; eight grandchildren, Monte Middaugh, Brandon Middaugh, Paris Whitcomb, Hunter Ives, Kilee (Dawson) Breton, Treston Hodgkins, Destiny Hodgkins and Jaice Hoffman; two great grandchildren, Ryder Middaugh and Logan Middaugh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Ricky Ives and Ryan Ives; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Shirley Ives.

As mentioned above, Theresa’s life was centered around her family. She was the glue that held the Ives together. She loved crocheting, embroidering and sewing, all activities that allowed her to love her family through useful, homemade gifts of blankets, sweater sock hats, clothes and Christmas ornaments.

Theresa was a phenomenal cook and baker with lasagna, mac and cheese, biscuits and gravy, sour cream apple pie and banana bread immediately coming to mind. It was her joy to host the annual Christmas and New Year’s Ives family get-togethers, that is until the family outgrew their home and had to rent the Willing Town Hall. And when cooking is not on the radar, Bolivar Short’s for lunch and Stannards Short’s for dinner became the new family tradition.

In the midst of a busy life, Theresa found time to pursue her own passions. She was an avid horse enthusiast which she shared with her husband through camping and horse back riding. She loved the solitude of her flower gardens; truly enjoying her roses, marigolds, petunias, tulips, peonies and daffodils among her favorites. She also enjoyed the sound of her large wind chime collection as the breeze on her front porch brought them to life.

Visitation will be held on Monday (November 9) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Scio/Wellsville. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at York’s Corners Cemetery in Willing. Online condolences may be offered at baker-swan.com.
