Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation will host The Great Community Pumpkin on Friday, October 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fassett Greenspace, located at the intersection of South Main and West Fassett streets.

The centerpiece of the evening will be an approximately 1,700-pound pumpkin carved by professional carver Eric Jones. Jones will be putting the finishing touches on the massive pumpkin during the event, giving the community an opportunity to see the completed creation and some of the final carving work that goes into it.

The evening will also feature a free community pumpkin carving contest open to all ages. Pumpkins will be provided to participants, who will carve their creations during the event. Prizes will be awarded for Best Overall, Scariest and Most Creative.

“We wanted to put together something fun and a little different for the community this fall,” said Dylan Foust of Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation. “Having Eric here with a 1,700-pound pumpkin gives us a pretty incredible centerpiece, but we also wanted families and people of all ages to be able to come downtown and be part of the evening themselves.”

Pizza King and SheBrews will also join the event, with food and beverages available for purchase throughout the evening.

There is no admission charge, and the pumpkin carving contest, including the pumpkins provided to participants, is free.

The event is organized and sponsored by Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation as a family-friendly fall evening for Wellsville and the surrounding communities.

The Great Community Pumpkin will take place Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fassett Greenspace in Wellsville. South Main Street and West Fassett Street will remain open to traffic throughout the event.
