Culvert repairs on “Friendship Hill” will create road closures through August 6th

Once again Cty. Rte 31 between Scio and Friendship has a puzzling detour.
County Rte. 31 is shut down due to culvert replacements and traffic is being re-routed. Those not familiar with the area are often confused and not sure which way, or how, to bypass the construction.
Take the Back River Road, detour at the detour signs. Continue on the Back River Road, which runs parallel to the Genesee River, for a few miles and at the intersection with Cty. Rte 31A, which is adjacent to the Conservation site rest area, turn left and follow the road up over the hill and continue for a few (10 or 12 or so) miles to the top of what is locally known as “East HIll” or “Middaugh/Corbin Hill” road. AT the intersection with Cty. Rte. 31, turn right and it takes you down the hill into Friendship which was likely your destination.
Residence access via Rte. 31 is local to that area only.
