From the Arc Allegany-Steuben,

Carrie Redman, The Arc Allegany-Steuben’s Associate Executive Director of Business Operations and Development, recently graduated from The Arc New York’s Leadership Institute. The Arc New York Leadership Institute is a dynamic 10-month executive development program designed to foster the leadership potential of emerging leaders from across the state through a blend of group learning and personalized executive mentorship.

Carrie Redman shared, “Participating in the Leadership Institute through The Arc New York provided me with valuable opportunities to strengthen my leadership skills, expand my professional network, and gain new perspectives on effective team development. One of the most rewarding aspects of the Leadership Institute was connecting with professionals from across the state, sharing experiences, and learning from diverse leadership styles.”

Redman began her career with (then) Allegany Arc in 2007 as Development Director. During her tenure, she has played a key role in advancing several initiatives, including the creation of Arc Art, an annual event held each March at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center. Under her leadership, the Special Olympics program has expanded significantly, now offering six sports—basketball, bocce, bowling, dance, softball, and track and field—to athletes across Allegany and Steuben counties. The program is currently working toward expanding into unified sports, promoting inclusive opportunities for individuals with and without disabilities.

Throughout her career, Redman has also been instrumental in securing grant funding to support agency growth and sustainability. She leads both internal and external marketing and communications efforts and serves as a spokesperson for the organization, ensuring clear, consistent engagement with the community.

For Redman, her work at The Arc Allegany-Steuben extends beyond a professional role. Her commitment is reflected in the relationships she has built, her dedication to inclusion, and her daily efforts to uphold the agency’s mission to support and respect people’s choices on their journey to independence.  Carrie Redman has a heart for the work The Arc Allegany-Steuben does and leads with compassion, kindness, and generosity.

In her current role, Redman oversees marketing and development initiatives while also contributing to business operations, including efforts to enhance the agency’s social enterprise businesses. She leads a team focused on advocacy, communication, fundraising, marketing, and Special Olympics programming.

Mike Damiano, Executive Director of The Arc Allegany-Steuben, said of Carrie’s recent graduation, “We are fortunate to have someone of Carrie’s caliber at The Arc Allegany-Steuben.  She is a creative and thoughtful leader who is not afraid to ask important questions. Her completion of The Arc New York Leadership Institute reflects her ongoing commitment to professional growth and excellence. We are pleased to congratulate her on this achievement.”

Outside of her work, Redman is an active community member, serving with the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Wellsville Development Corporation, and as a Director on the Alfred State College Council. In her free time, she enjoys camping, gardening, traveling, volunteering, walking her puppies, and spending time with her friends and family.

The Arc Allegany-Steuben is a not-for-profit organization committed to building a more inclusive society through its programs, partnerships, and advocacy.  For more information about the agency’s work or how to get involved, please visit www.thearcas.org.
