The Wellsville Elks Lodge is excited to announce the annual Wellsville Spring Day Track & Field Invitational this weekend. The event will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday at the Wellsville Track & Field Complex. For nearly 40 years, the Elks have sponsored this event, providing T-shirts for the winners of each competition.
Wellsville Spring Day has a rich history, dating back to 1933 when it was founded by the legendary coach and teacher Sid Miles. The Wellsville Merchants Association sponsored the first meet, which took place at the old track behind the high school.
This year’s event will feature teams from 18 local schools representing Cattaraugus, Allegany, Steuben, and Livingston counties. The meet will showcase some of the finest athletes in the region, as well as several competitors recognized for their top 10 performances across New York State.
