A large two story building in the village of Wellsville collapsed on one side and could collapse even more later tonight.

Around 5:20 p.m. the roof of the building at 96 Railroad Avenue collapsed and took a wall with it.

VIllage of Wellsville Fire Department Chief Greg Day said he was unsure if it was from the rain. No cause was determined and no one was injured.

A neighbor was unloaded groceries and thought it was a waterfall. They started shooting video through the trees and then it appeared to be a building collapsing. They didn’t know if anyone was inside. They said the noise was loud but could not recognize what is was.

The Wellsville Village Department of Works is at the scene and decisions are being made on taking it down or closing off the building. There are noises coming from the building that sound like bricks or the wall starting to wilt under the stress. There is also sounds of water running inside the building.
