Saturday April 18 event with Alfred University students is FREE family fun
From the SPCA,
The SPCA Serving Allegany County invites families throughout the region to enjoy a fun and heartwarming afternoon at Kids & Cats Day at the SPCA, taking place Saturday, April 18 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the shelter located at 5440 State Route 19 in Belmont.
This special event promises a “meow-gical makeover” kind of day where children and families can spend time visiting and socializing with the SPCA’s friendly cats and kittens while enjoying a variety of family-friendly activities.
Event highlights will include face painting, temporary tattoos, cat inspired crafts, popcorn, snow cones, and plenty of opportunities for kids to meet and interact with the shelter’s feline residents. The afternoon is designed to create positive connections between young animal lovers and shelter pets while encouraging compassion and kindness toward animals. Families will also get the chance to meet our SPCA Ambassador ferrets, turtle and bunnies that are in our lobby.

The event is proudly sponsored by students from the Alfred University Honors Program, who are partnering with the SPCA to help create a welcoming and engaging experience for the community.
“Events like Kids & Cats Day help introduce families to the important work of the SPCA while giving our cats valuable socialization and attention,” said JoAnn Brown, Community & School Outreach Volunteer and Humane Education Coordinator for the SPCA Serving Allegany County. “It’s a wonderful way for children to learn about kindness to animals while having a lot of fun.”
Donations for the animals will be graciously accepted and will directly support the care of the many animals currently residing at the shelter.
Families are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the SPCA for an afternoon filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of purrs.
