Each April, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) invites educators, families, and communities to come together for the Week of the Young Child® (WOYC)—a joyful celebration of early learning, young children, and the adults who support them. Through themed days like Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, and Artsy Thursday, WOYC highlights the critical role of play, creativity, and collaboration in a child’s development. It’s a time to recognize the importance of high-quality early childhood education and to advocate for the professionals who make it possible.
Join us at the First Step Family Resource Center next week for an exciting time flurry of activities.

Music Monday we will be joined by STEPS Dance Studio for a creative movement class. Littles and their adults can learn to move and express themselves with Miss Rachel.
Tasty Tuesday will be a busy one, so make sure to stop by! Fidelis will be here with all the fixings for a healthy snack, and our SNAP representative will be here to answer any questions you have. And now that the weather is finally warming up, don’t forget to have our experts at Ardent Solutions Inc. make sure your car seat is properly placed and a good fit for your child.
Work Together Wednesday we will have our friends from Molina Healthcare join us to help families work together to decorate a pot and plant a seed for them to take home and grow!
Artsy Thursday is an opportunity for families to create a mini masterpiece together! Our partners at ACCORD will be here to guide families through a collaborative art project as well as engaging children in sensory play!
Family Friday is the day you don’t want to miss! Capping off the week of celebration we will have prize drawings for families who come to the center, participate in an Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ for short) with our friend from Help Me Grow WNY, and get their child ID done with the Sheriff’s Department. Also, every child in attendance will receive a free coupon for ice cream or french fries from McDonalds!
All programs are free and open to families with small children. If you have any questions please contact the Center at (585)803-4526, or email Miss Kate at MillerC@ardentnetwork.org
