Special town meeting to address immediate needs set for April 1st

Shutt replaces Brian Smith who retired after 34 years of service

Longtime Wellsville town highway crew member and superintendent Brian Smith recently retired after a long career of 34 years! The town board recently appointed Airport Manager Willis Shutt as the acting superintendent for a term ending December 31, 2026. The job of highway superintendent is an elected position in the town of Wellsville.

The town has announced a public meeting will be held on Wednesday April 1 at the Wellsville municipal airport to discuss “immediate needs,” for the highway department. Here is the notice from the town:

LEGAL NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special meeting will be held by the Wellsville Town Board, Allegany County, State of New York in the Town Office, Wellsville Municipal Airport in said town on April 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM for the purpose of discussing the immediate needs of the newly appointed Highway Superintendent, Willis Shutt.
