“I am incredibly grateful to the residents of Belmont for their support, and I want to sincerely thank both Democrats and Republicans who came together to support my candidacy. This election showed that our community can unite around a shared vision for Belmont’s future, and I am honored to have earned a seat at the board table.
As I begin this role, I am focused on several key priorities for the year ahead. First, increasing transparency and encouraging more public participation in village government. I plan to communicate regularly with residents through a newsletter and blog updates three to four times per month, as well as through my Trustee page. Residents can subscribe and stay informed at https://www.Shannonforbelmont.com. If supported by the board, I would also like to assist with improving the village’s website and social media presence to better connect with our community.
Second, I am committed to attracting small businesses and strengthening our local economy in a way that fits Belmont’s character. I also plan to form a collaborative committee of local organization leaders to work together more efficiently on events, initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
Third, I would like to bring together experienced and passionate community members to explore thoughtful options for St. Philip’s Church. As I understand it, the county is currently conducting an appraisal and will be accepting proposals through an RFP process. While the timeline is still unclear, we do have time to consider ideas that respect the building’s history and potential role in our community.
Finally, I would like to publicly congratulate Mayor DeTine on his win, and my opponents, Linda Healy and Vincent Evans, on such a close race. I appreciate their service to Belmont and look forward to working with all of them, along with Trustees Lisa Shmitt, Deputy Mayor Scott Grantier, Clerk/Treasurer Jennifer Cline, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Jeanette Stewart, and, last but certainly not least, our dedicated public works employees.
Belmont has an incredible foundation, and I look forward to working together to build on it in a positive, transparent, and forward-thinking way.
