This evening, March 22, at 5:30pm the Wellsville Central School District released this statement: Dear Wellsville Community, We continue to monitor closely and remain focused on the threat reported on Friday, and are working in direct coordination with law enforcement and appropriate agencies. The individual involved has been identified, and the situation is being actively managed. As a precaution, we have increased security presence and are taking additional measures to ensure the safety of students and staff. At this time, school will continue as scheduled. We truly understand the concern this creates. The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will provide updates if conditions change. The Wellsville Central School District Board of Education & Superintendent is aware of a reported threat involving our school community. We want to assure families, staff, and the broader community that the safety and well-being of our students and employees is our highest priority.
District administrators are working closely with local law enforcement and outside agencies to thoroughly understand and address this situation. At this time, we are taking numerous precautions to ensure a safe learning environment.
We understand that situations like this can cause concern, and we are committed to keeping our community informed as more information becomes available. The safety and security of all our community both within and outside the school is of utmost importance.
We encourage anyone with relevant information to contact local authorities. We are reminding everyone that if you see something, say something. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe and secure school environment.
