Scio /Lima – Jim passed away on February 27, 2026 at Strong Memorial Hospital, at age 88 years. Predeceased by his wife Wrexie Ames, his son James W. Ames, and his granddaughter Courtney Amber Moore.
Survived by his daughter Betty (Tom) Harrington; grandson Casey (Kaitlyn) Moore, granddaughter Cassidy Moore and fiancé Jared Swift, great-grandson Augie Lamay, daughter-in- law Leona Ames, granddaughter Heather Farrow and great-grandsons Holden Perry and Tyler Farrow.
Jim retired from the Town of Scio Highway Department. After retirement he was able to return to his true passion of woodworking. Jim was the nicest man you would ever want to know, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone, and always spoke kindly of others.
As per Jim’s request, no formal funeral services will be held. A memorial dinner will be held at later date. Donations to Scio Fire Dept. in memory of his son, James W. Ames, 38975 SW 6th Ave. Scio, NY 14880.
