The AW Ladies honored their Seniors Tuesday night under the Andover lights in a gritty, defensive showdown against Cuba-Rushford/Bolivar-Richburg that came down to the final seconds.

Both teams came out locked in on defense in the opening quarter, limiting scoring opportunities on both ends of the court. AW edged close behind with 6 points while CR/BR narrowly led with 7 after the 1st quarter.

The 2nd quarter saw AW tighten the defensive pressure even more — holding CR/BR to just 2 points while adding 6 of their own offensively to take a 12-9 lead into the half.

Coming out of the break, both teams battled hard to control the pace. CR/BR was able to find a bit more rhythm offensively, putting up 13 points in the 3rd quarter, while AW answered with 10 — setting up a tied game heading into the final 8 minutes.

The 4th quarter was a back-and-forth defensive battle as both teams traded buckets down the stretch. With the game on the line in the closing seconds, AW had opportunities at the rim but were unable to convert on a couple of late layups — falling in a heartbreaking 34-33 Senior Night loss.
