Soap Box Derby, Dances, Pet Parade, and more

The Town of Burns Bicentennial Committee has announced scheduled events in recognition of the township’s 200 years since official formation on March 17,1826. Festivities begin this weekend at Canaseraga School with a square dance to get both young and old into a celebratory mood.
Committee members say, “Whether you’re a long-time square dancer or you’ve never tried it; come out for the music and fun! Enjoy learning the calls and moves. Bring the whole family on Sunday at a price of just 25 cents per person!”
The Burns Bicentennial Schedule of Events so far is;
Sun, February 1 Square Dance 2pm
Mon, May 25 Parade with prizes for floats
Fri, May 29 Square Dance; 7-10 pm at Canaseraga School
Sat, May 30 has 3 events
Soap Box Derby on N. Church St; 10 am
Canaseraga History Hunt; begins at 1pm
Lucky Number at American Legion; 8-11:30 pm
Sun, May 31 Non-denominational service: Village Park, time TBA,
followed by Blessing of Pets & Pet Parade
Sat, July 4 250 Years of USA Bell Ringing; time TBA

There are four months left to build soap box derby cars for the 1950s style race on May 30th. Participants must be preregistered and be between the ages of 5 and 17 years of age.
