Wellsville, Andover, Scio, and Allentown fire crews fight Dornow Road Fire

Remote location created challenging scene, one family dog thought to have died

At about 230pm, Wellsville Fire Wire reported that, ” Wellsville, Andover air truck and FAST 4 for a working structure fire on Dornow Rd. House is well off the roadway and 4wd needed for access.”

Thankfully that report was followed by, “Everyone out of the structure.”

Wellsville requesting aid from Allentown for a full response and tankers from Scio and Willing.

The Wellsville Fire Company reported more details from the fire and had returned back to service within three hours:

At 14:24 hours, the Wellsville Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the Town of Wellsville. Wellsville 3 responded and arrived on scene to find a working fire. There was a total of 19 company members operating on scene. Crews immediately went to work, and the fire was brought under control. Wellsville 3 returned to service at 17:10 hours.

Fire Chief Greg Day confirmed the dwelling was a total loss and that one dog had perished in the blaze. Chief Day went on to thank to all other operating companies and mutual aid departments for their assistance.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, NY State Police, fire coordinators, Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corp, and the Red Cross were also on the scene.
