“One guiding priority: You, the taxpayer”
A OP-ED by Girard Kelly, Angelica NY
Residents and Taxpayers of Angelica,
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your trust and for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Town of Angelica’s Supervisor beginning January 1, 2026. It is an honor I do not take lightly.
As many of you know, I have served as a councilman for the past eight years. During that time, I have worked hard on behalf of the taxpayers of Angelica—fighting for fiscal responsibility, improving transparency, and ensuring that our town continues to move in a positive direction. Together with the Town Board, we have successfully reduced the town tax rate for the past several years, invested in critical infrastructure projects—including improvements to our parks and public buildings—and ensured that our Town Highway Department has the updated tools and resources it needs to serve residents effectively.
I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Robert Jones for his many years of dedicated service to the Town of Angelica as Town Supervisor. His leadership, commitment, and service to our community have made a lasting impact. I would also like to thank Sharon Presutti for her years of service as Town Clerk. Her professionalism, dedication, and hard work on behalf of our residents are truly appreciated.
As your next Supervisor, I promise—along with the Town Board—to continue working hard, to remain honest and transparent, and to invest wisely in the future of Angelica to ensure a strong return on investment (ROI) for every tax dollar spent. We recognize that challenges lie ahead, but you can be confident that we will face them head-on with one guiding priority: you, the taxpayer.
I look forward to continuing to work with the Town Board members—Elwyn Gordon, Jeremy Metatos, Willy Weaver, and Brian Jones—as well as our new Town Clerk, Pam Cockle. I also look forward to working collaboratively with the Village Board and Mayor in a spirit of partnership on potential upcoming projects that will benefit our shared community. I sincerely believe that with this team in place, the future of Angelica is bright.
“Make Angelica Great Again” is more than a slogan; it reflects our shared commitment to strengthening our community, honoring our traditions, and building a better tomorrow.
