Dr. Soni, an oncologist, helped establish the Wilmot Cancer Institute
After 34 years of exceptional service, Jones Memorial Hospital announces the retirement of Dr. Neeta Soni, a highly respected oncologist in both the Wellsville and Olean communities.
Dr. Soni joined JMH in 2019, after years of private practice, bringing her expertise in medical oncology and hematology. Dr. Soni worked tirelessly with the team at Wilmot and UR Medicine to bring the Wilmot Cancer Institute to our region.
“We are deeply grateful for Dr. Soni’s years of dedicated service to our hospital and the patients we serve,” said Brenda Mong-Szabo, VP for Specialty Services at Jones Memorial. “Dr. Soni has been a trusted physician and colleague to many. Her contributions will have a lasting impact on the hospital and the community, and we wish her the best in retirement.”
Dr. Soni helped open the first cancer center in our community and is credited with helping to bring cancer care close to home. In 2025 this career culminated in the ribbon cutting of a new oncology and infusion center in the Wellsville, NY location where Dr. Soni served patients for years. Over the years, she has worked with countless families through life’s most difficult and challenging moments.
Dr. Soni reflected on her time at Jones, stating, “It has been a privilege to work alongside such caring and professional people at JMH. I am proud to have served this community and will remember the relationships with both patients and colleagues fondly. I have witnessed courage, resilience, and hope in ways that have shaped me not only as a physician, but as a person.”
