Marvin Jess Butts, 73, Allentown NY

Marvin Jess BUTTS, 73, of Allentown, NY, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.  

A longtime resident of Allentown, he was born December 7, 1952, in Cuba, NY, the son of Martin DeYoe and Edith “Lorraine” Case Butts.  On August 15, 1975, in West Clarksville Baptist Church, he married the love of his life, Donna May Vincent, who survives.  

Marvin was raised in West Clarksville, graduated from BOCES and Richburg Central School in 1972, and attended Mohawk Valley Community College.  He was first employed by Bentley Drilling Company.  He then started a 31-year career with American-Olean Tile Company in Olean as a mural designer.  In 2006, he joined his nephew, Eric Jones, as an artist with Give-A-Caricature for 18 years, retiring in 2024.  He was a former member, trustee, deacon, and AWANA teacher with the West Clarksville Baptist Church.  He became a member of the Allentown United Methodist Church in 2006.  

Surviving besides his wife of 50 years, Donna, are: two daughters, Sarah Christine Butts-Manzo (David) of Allentown and Emily Virginia Lane of Wellsville; seven grandchildren, Creigh Manzo, Avin Manzo, Virginia “Nia” Manzo, Kallen Manzo, Lilyana Lane, Miles Lane, and Aubriel Lane; three sisters, Lois Arnold of West Clarksville, Lené (Bruce) Jones of Richburg, and Luanne (Martin) Smith of Cuba; a brother, Morey (Michelle) Butts of West Clarksville; brothers-in-law, Arthur Wilcox of Cuba and Kenneth Austin of Lake Placid, FL; a sister-in-law, Darla (Victor) Thomas of Lobelville, TN; sisters-in-law, Paula (Greg) Swier of Olean and Diana (John) Embser of Wellsville; an aunt, Donna Clayson of Cuba; nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Louise Wilcox, Lucille Kyser, and Lynn Marie Austin; a brother, Marty Butts; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Arnold; and a son-in-law, Jason Lane.  Marvin will be remembered for his strong faith and love for the Lord and the word of God.  His work ethic and sense of humor brought laughter and joy to so many.  He showed contentment and creativity in all he did, from projects around his beautiful home to sitting on his deck overlooking the pond and feeding the birds.  Family and friends made life beautiful to him.  

Friends may call at Allentown United Methodist Church, 5815 State Rte. 417, Allentown, NY 14707 on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM.  

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allentown United Methodist Church, Crosstown Alliance Youth Ministry, or Hart Comfort House.
