“Bipartisan, commonsense, good governance”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Chair of House Republican Leadership, signed the discharge petition filed by Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) to ban Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from owning or trading individual stocks.

“Throughout my entire 11 years in Congress, I have never purchased or traded a single individual stock because I believe it is unethical. Meanwhile, we have seen Members of Congress in both parties abuse their position in elected office by making millions on stock trades—no one has been more corrupt in this practice than former Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This bipartisan, commonsense, good governance discharge petition will finally crack down on the corrosive decay of a Congress that is failing the American people—particularly New Yorkers who are struggling with an affordability crisis created by Kathy Hochul,” said Stefanik.
