An official statement from the Wellsville Police Department did not contain any new information about the serious collision between a WPD patrol and a 46 year old Wellsville man.

From the Wellsville Police Chief Timothy O’Grady:

Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck by Wellsville Police Vehicle

WELLSVILLE — A Wellsville Police patrol vehicle was involved in a pedestrian accident early Tuesday morning at the intersection of North Main Street and West State Street.

According to the Wellsville Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 1:09 a.m., when a patrol car turning left onto West State Street from South Main Street struck a pedestrian, identified as Rickey A. Armstrong, 46, of Wellsville. The vehicle was operated by Officer Seth T. Farrand, age 26.

Per department policy, the New York State Police were requested to respond and conduct an independent investigation into the crash.

Armstrong sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Jones Memorial Hospital by the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Last week we reported that Armstrong sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries, and had contacted the notable personal injury lawyer William Mattar(Hurt in a Car? Call William Mattar.) Armstrong reports that surgery isn’t going to be necessary but he will not be able to work until he heals.

He declined to speak more about the incident for the same reason given by the Village of Wellsville: Pending litigation.
