The Salvation Army of Wellsville 2025 Red Kettle Campaign red kettle campaign is in full swing! With the goal of raising $27,500, this annual fundraiser supports Salvation Army programs and services in Allegany County throughout the year.

“We are excited to kick off our Red Kettle season here in the Wellsville area,” said Emily Stothart, Employee in Charge. “We continue to see a great need in our community as families and individuals look to The Salvation Army for assistance throughout the year.”

The Salvation Army of Wellsville provides assistance to more than 6,340 families and individuals a year through its food pantry and emergency assistance program, pastoral counseling, and Christmas and toy assistance. There has been a 20% increase in clientele in this calendar year alone, which translates to an additional 50 households per month than there were in January, and is over 95,000 meals being served through the food pantry in 2025.

“It is only through the community’s generosity that we can respond to those in need through our services and programs,” Mrs. Stothart said. “All funds raised stay local to make a difference right here in our community.”

During the 2025 Red Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army will also launch it’s new “Give With Joy” initiative nationally.

“In a time when problems in the world feel overwhelmingly heavy, Give With Joy is an opportunity to redefine the meaning of helping others,” said the administrator. “Giving shouldn’t feel burdensome or overwhelming. It should uplift. Give With Joy is an open invitation to all donors and volunteers to join The Salvation Army in lifting humanity with a smile on their face and in their heart.”

Mrs. Stothart added that, to make this year’s Red Kettle Campaign a success, The Salvation Army of Wellsville needs volunteers to ring bells at Salvation Army Red Kettle locations throughout the community. Stands are found at Tops Friendly Market, Giant Food Mart, Runnings, and Save-a-Lot.

“By ringing the bell at a Red Kettle for two hours this holiday season, you are helping us feed a family of four for a week,” she said. “From ringing the bell, adopting a family for Christmas, hosting an Angel Tree, or using our Walmart registry to get a gift for a child shipped right to our facility, there are many ways to make a difference.”
