Canaseraga, NY hosts the annual celebration of Scottish heritage

The Marjory Dieter Mastin Historical Society is proud to announce its annual Robert Burns Dinner celebrating the life, poetry, and legacy of Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns. The settlement of Burns was established from part of the Town of Ossian and was named in honor of the Scottish poet, who is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland,
The event will take place on Friday, January 24, 2026. at the American Legion, 83 West Main St. Canaseraga, NY. The evening’s festivities will continue “until the last toast is raised!” Music and Mingling begin at 5:00 p.m. and Dinner is at 6:00 p.m.

The Burns Dinner is a cherished tradition, featuring all of the pageantry and spirit of a classic Scottish celebration including pipers and poetry, music, and scotch! Guests can look forward to:
- The Piping In of the Haggis and the traditional Address to the Haggis
- Scottish-inspired Roast Beef Dinner, prepared by J.C.’s Café.
- Hard and soft beverages included
- Poetry readings and songs and the opportunity to win Bard of the year!
- Basket raffle and auction, and other opportunities to win unique and fun prizes
- Music, toasts, and camaraderie in true Highland style
“This event brings our community together in a way that’s both festive and meaningful,” said Deborah Snyder, MDMHS President. “Whether you’re of Scottish heritage or simply enjoy good food, poetry, and company, the Burns Dinner is an experience not to be missed.”
Guests are encouraged to wear kilts and tartan attire and join in the merriment. Space is limited, and early ticket purchase is recommended! Tickets can be purchased from any MDMHS member, or by contacting the society via www.mdmhs.weeby.com or through the MDMHS facebook page.
Tickets: $30.00 which includes entry to the event, roast beef dinner, and drinks. Costs for the auction or basket raffle are separate, and all proceeds benefit the Marjory Dieter Mastin Historical Society.
