Wellsville Village Police crackdown on registered sex offenders

A 37-year old predator tried to contact a 16-year old minor on SnapChat

Two Wellsville deviants charged with felonies for failing to register as sex offenders

From the Village of Wellsville Police Departmet,

Saturday November 8, 2025

Wellsville Police arrested Aaron M. Maier, age 37 of Wellsville, charging him with Endangering the welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor). The charge stems from a complaint and investigation into Maier contacting a minor (16 year old female) over Snapchat while being a level 3 registered sex offender. Maier was processed and transported to the Allegany County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court. Maier is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court at a later date.

Wellsville Police arrested Jack D. Gardner, age 80 of Wellsville, charging him with a Sex Offender Registration Violation (Class E Felony). Gardner failed to verify his address within 90 days as required being a Level 3 Sex Offender. Gardner was processed and transported to the Allegany County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court. Gardner is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court at a later date.

Wellsville Police arrested William J. Pearson, age 48 of Wellsville, charging him with a Sex Offender Registry Violation (Class E Felony). Pearson was found to be living in the Village of Wellsville since March of 2025 and failed to register with the New York State Sex Offender Registry being a Level 2 Sex Offender. Pearson was processed and transported to the Allegany County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court. Pearson is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court at a later date.

*All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
