Eleanor L. Cornish, 93, of Hornell, NY passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 93.
She was born at home in Hornell, NY on January 10, 1932, to William and Gertrude (Weaver) Lorow. Eleanor was the youngest of six children: Helen, Robert, Donald, Margaret, Audrey and Eleanor.
In August of 1954 she married her beloved Oliver Lee Cornish, and they were married for 57 years. Together they raised five children: Kelly, Linda, Mitchell, James and Benjamin.
Eleanor was a woman with a great love for her family and friends. She and Oliver enjoyed their annual camping trips to the 1,000 Islands and trips out west with their children.
Eleanor was a homemaker: she was a wonderful cook serving up hearty family meals and delicious deserts. She also was a great ballplayer, spending many afternoons throwing the baseball with her son, Ben and attending his games.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Oliver Lee Cornish; daughter, Linda D. Cornish of Hornell; son-in-law, Roger S. Kerr and grandson, Ian D. Kerr of Brockport NY.
She is survived by her children; Kelly Kerr Brockport NY, Mitchell (Collette) Cornish Hornell NY, James (Tonya) Cornish Hornell NY, and Benjamin (Luisa) Cornish of Salem MA,
and her grandchildren, Jessica (Jordan) Pruss of Scottsville NY, Katie (Tyler) Winchester of Glen Burnie MD and Leeza (Brian) Kerr of Rochester NY, Madelaine Gallese, Lee Cornish, Connor and Ella Cornish, all of Hornell
and three great-grandchildren, Dean and Cole Pruss and Maeve Winchester; along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
