Pull! Alfred State Trap team finishes 6th at Nationals

The trap team traveled to Bunker Hill, IL to compete in the 2025 National Trap Shooting Championships.

ALFRED, NY, Nov. 4, 2025 – The Alfred State Trap team finished 6th at the 2025 National Trap Shooting Championships held in Bunker Hill, IL. The team improved on their 10th place finish in 2024.

Fifteen Pioneers competed at the National Championships that featured 243 total competitors from 25 different colleges. The top five shooting Pioneers finished with a score of 939.

Daniel Stang led the way with a 11th place finish (8th among males) with a score of 194. He improved 51 spots from 2024 and 11 points.

John Button was tied for 23rd with 192 points (T18th among males), Justin Jerome was 48th with 186 (36th among males), Connor Younger was tied for 55th with 185 points (40th among males), and Ashley Burrows was 83rd with 182 points (22nd among females).  

Jacob Bartlett was 89th (180), Spencer Chamberlain was 105th (178), Daniel Tancredi and Vincent Lanzafame tied for 112th (178), Daniel Clark was 115th (177), Maddison Gietler was 117th (177), Colby Lamphier was tied for 143rd (171), Teresa Cicora was tied for 154th (170), Jake Betrus was 167th (167), and Maxwell Pullis was 197th (158).

“It is amazing to see the progress these students have made,” commented Head Coach Brad Smith. “I am extremely proud of their hard work and how they handled the long trip to Nationals. In a short period of time, we have become one of the top teams in the country. I am excited to for the continued growth of our athletes and the program.”

Each student took two rounds of fifty shots on each day of the two-day competition. The top five shooters score was used to calculate the final team scores.

A record breaking 1,009 students athletes representing 83 colleges across the country participated In USA Clay Target League programs this fall.
