Village trustee is analyzing local laws and enforcement

Dear Community Members, it has been a few years since I made this plea. But now I may try another approach.
Those who know me, know I get annoyed with the abundance of signs placed along the roadsides. My particular pet peeve , is the corner of routes 417 and 19 or commonly known as the Genesee Parkway at South Main St. This corner is the location of the Shane Colligan Memorial Park. Hence, my interest.

I don’t discriminate between political or religious, profit or non-proft. Heck, some of the signs that are on that corner are groups I belong to!
But it is frustrating to have to go pickup political signs, or garage sale signs, or even blood bank notices. Today, I see new vinyl signs are wire-tied to the ornamental fence. And there are many of the discarded wire ties lying on the ground. These signs and assorted trash are difficult to mow around, and distract from the aesthetic beauty of the park I care for.
As a member of the Wellsville Village Board, I intend to inquire as to the legalities of these signs and any enforcements associated with them. I will of course disclose my interest in the Park and will abstain if it is legally a conflict of interest.
So Mr. John Q. Public- please be on notice that I may be aiming at you – not personally, but to help reclaim this, and other, areas of our village.
Thanks in advance.
Timothy Colligan
