Nick served in the United States Navy from 1962-1966 and had the privilege of being stationed on the USS Essex, which was permanently decommissioned in 1969. On January 11, 1964 at St. Brandan Catholic church in Almond, Nick married Julia Patsy Hall.

Instilled with a solid work-ethic from his days on the farm, Nick’s life was primarily about working and providing for family. He had a purple Honda that he loved to cruise all around the backroads enjoying the scenery. He had weekly game nights in Hornell to play Euchre with friends.

A particularly fond memory for Nick was when he and Zachary took a fishing trip together in Canada.
