Less than 2% participated in early voting county-wide

Polls open at 6:00am tomorrow to decide who will serve as our elected representatives beginning January 1, 2026. This “off-cycle” election year is expected to be a low-turnout event and pleas from policital parties and candidates beg a common theme: PLEASE VOTE.
Allegany County will decide on the next slate of Legislators and only one district has a challenger to the dominate Republican party. Sarah Trumpp is on the ballot in District two, challenging the incumbent Legislators Healy, Hanchett, and Ricci. All other legislative districts are a forgone conclusion with three candidates for three open spots. This election cycle has seen almost no political campaiging, messaging, or debate of the many pressing matters that legislators must tackle over the next four years.

That lack of competition is a common theme across all county-level offices. County Treasurer and County Judge offices each have one candidate on the ballot, Jenna Kelley and Ian Jones respectively.
In the Town of Wellsville, two names appear on the ballot for two open Town Board positions, incumbent Patricia Graves and Independent Justine Dodaro.
Very few actual contests are on the ballot. The town of Scio, Hume, Burns, Belfast, and Alfred do have more candidates than open seats.
Andover’s village mayor contest maybe one of the most interesting results to keep an eye on with incumbent Mayor David Truax fighting off popular challenger Tom Davis. The two open seats for Village trustee have three candidates in the contest.
The full ballot is below with poll locations to follow.
