WELLSVILLE – The Nathaniel Dike Museum will be closing its doors for its 2025 season on Wednesday, October 29th from 1 to 4 p.m. but not without a little fanfare. There will be a small celebration with cookies, cake, cider and candy for any early trick or treaters.

The public is invited and encouraged to visit, explore our files, check out our exhibits or just visit and see what the museum offers. Located at 118 Dyke Street in the original firehall for the Dyke Street Hose Company circa 1897, the museum houses an extensive display of firefighting apparatus and history of the fire departments in Wellsville.

As part of the Thelma Rogers Genealogical and Historical Society, the museum has membership applications available. At just $10 for individuals or $15 for families, membership includes a subscription to THELMA, the Society’s four yearly newsletters. The newsletters are full of historical facts and stories which offer insight into the history of Wellsville, and the families who have lived here.

The DAR “Revolutionary Cookbook” is also available at the museum on the 29th only. It offers information about the area’s patriots, colonial recipes, maps and unusual facts about the Revolutionary War. The cost of the cookbook is $25, and the proceeds go towards the 250th memorial being planned in Angelica in 2026.

There are also a limited number of the new Historic Churches of Wellsville calendar. Researched by Ann and Jackie Comstock, this year’s calendar features interesting facts about both old and new churches that have been in Wellsville throughout the years. The cost is $20 and is a wonderful Christmas gift for those interested in the history of Wellsville. The calendar will also be available at various stores and at the Chamber of Commerce.

In November, the TRGHS will be offering another public program. On November 12th, Paul Vossler will give a program about his antique firearm collection at 6 p.m. in the David A Howe Library.  More information will be coming soon.

While the Nathaniel Dike Museum will be closed to the public from November until May members will gladly open the doors for individuals or group visits or tours. We want the public to have full access to our genealogical and historical files and exhibits. Please call 585-296-3273 to arrange a visit. Also, be sure to check out our weekly historical photos and information listed on our Facebook page at  where you will find out interesting aspects of the village. Be sure to visit on the 29th for good conversation and special treats.
