Students from five Allegany County school districts walk a “two-miler”
From longtime RidgeWalk & Run volunteer Pat Childs,
Over two-hundred sixth graders from Bolivar Richburg, Scio, Andover, Wellsville, and Whitesville enjoyed a colorful, sun filled day learning about the Geology, Ecology, and the history of Oil Production in our community. The students and teachers followed a 2-mile section of the Ridgewalk where they would stop for instruction at several stations and explanatory signs along the way.

Rich Shear, Bob McDowell, Dan Hand, Ralph Stockman and Pat Childs provided instruction at the manned stations.

From the Wellsville Central School District:
Mrs. Vetter’s 6th graders took part in the annual Ridgewalk, hiking 2 miles and learning along the way about rocks, trees, plants, maple syrup production, and even oil wells at the highest point in Allegany County! It was a fun afternoon of fresh air, exploration, and hands-on learning right in our own community. How fun!
