Free family fun: Pumpkin painting, apple cider, donuts, and music for all

From the David A. Howe,

The library is often bustling with activity but fall is an especially vibrant time at DAHPL. On Saturday, October 11, the David A. Howe Public Library will hold their annual Fall Fest! Festivities will kick off at 11 a.m. and conclude around 1 p.m. This event is free and open to all!

There will be a plethora of fun activities for all ages. The library is grateful to Bob’s Market for donating pumpkins that will be available for patrons to paint and take home. Local duo, The Young Sisters – Alison Young Reusser and Hilary Gunning– will play live from the front terrace. There will also be lawn games set up for anyone to play, as well as a fall-themed scavenger hunt. Adult patrons will have the opportunity to enter a free raffle for books. Free cider and donuts will round out the cozy fall vibes

As part of the festival, the library is promoting The Great Give Back by collecting clothing items for our community closet, particularly coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and other warm clothing. Blankets are also welcome. The Great Give Back is a community service initiative created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, in conjunction with the Nassau Library System. The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day of opportunities for the patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.

Along with enjoying a fun event, attending Fall Fest is a great way to learn more about what is happening at the library this season, from Halloween parties to art shows, dance performances to film screenings, art classes to a variety of clubs, and so much more. If you cannot attend Fall Fest, following the library on Facebook or signing up for their weekly emails is another way to learn about the fun, free, and informative events on their schedule.
