Allegany County, NY – This October, discover the creative pulse of Allegany County as the 2025 Allegany Artisans Studio Tour welcomes visitors into the workspaces of 40 artists across 38 studios at 32 locations, October 17-19, 2025. More than an art show, the tour offers a rare chance to see and even participate in the making of art.

Many of the participating artisans will offer live demonstrations throughout the weekend and will span everything from hands-on techniques to traditional crafts. Here are just a few of the opportunities to see artists at work:

In Alfred Station at Location 3, Rebecca Wind Nightingale will be throwing mugs, vases, and bowls on the potter’s wheel while Amy Bennett hand-builds ceramic vessels.

At Arkport’s Location 6, Susan Jamison’s Studio will host Potato Printmaking for Kids on Saturday.

At Belmont’s Location 13 at the Belvidere Cornerstone, Susan Doran will create marbled paper prints in the Ebru style.

Wellsville visitors can head to Location 21, where Ed Green of Greens Ware Pottery will demonstrate horsehair raku (visitors may bring their own horsehair; hair from the tail works best).

Also in Wellsville at Location 29, Peggy Ann Watts will be weaving on a table loom and inkle loom and braiding with wool fabric strips.

If the weather is good, Peter Midgley at location 25 is planning on demonstrating the Raku firing process where the effect on the pottery is always unpredictable.

At all of the locations visitors can meet makers in their homes and studios, hear the stories behind their work, and shop directly from the artists themselves. Each Location also offers a chance to enter drawings for gift certificates redeemable at any participating studio. This is perfect for returning during the next tour or as a treat for yourself.

The tour begins with a Preview Evening on Friday, October 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., when select studios open their doors for an early look. On Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19, all participating studios will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the full experience.
