Music Memorial to Be Held at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center beginning at noon
From the WCAC,
Wellsville, NY — Friends, family, and fellow musicians will gather on Saturday, October 4 at 12:00 PM at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center to honor the life and legacy of Brian Voorheis, a beloved singer-songwriter whose soulful blend of folk and blues left an indelible mark on audiences across generations.
Brian Voorheis, AKA Brian V, was known for his unique musical style—gritty yet graceful—that seamlessly fused folk storytelling with bluesy depth. A gifted guitarist, singer, harmonica player, accompanist, and songwriter, Brian’s stage presence radiated warmth and authenticity.
His musical journey began in the vibrant Boston/Cambridge coffeehouse scene of the early 1960s, later taking him to Monterey and Munich. In 1968, he returned to California and immersed himself in the creative renaissance of the San Francisco music scene. By 1979, Brian had moved back East, where his career continued to flourish.
In 2008, Brian found a new musical home at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center’s open mic nights. There, he not only shared his songs but also his heart—forming lasting friendships and inspiring others with his kindness, sincerity, and unwavering love for music.
Brian’s music was never just performance—it was connection. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his melodies, lyrics, and generous spirit.
The Music Memorial will feature performances of Brian’s songs and shared memories from those who knew him best. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the enduring spirit of a man whose music continues to resonate.
