Local Law #3 will seek to exceed state “tax cap” for 2026
Dear Scio Homeowner,
Please join me at the Scio Community Center for a Town Board Public Hearing to Override Scio’s Real Property Tax Cap Leavy of 2% on September 10 at 5:30 P.M. If the Town Board passes this Local Law #3, next year’s tax rate will increase beyond the NY state annual limit of 2%. See the Attached copy of the Local Law #3. Notice that the Town Board anticipates a possible shortfall in Scio’s 2026 general Fund. This is after they have approved employee salary increases and vendors contracts in previous Town Board Meetings this year.
This Public Hearing is required by NY State so you can be:
- INFORMED,
- ASK QUESTIONS OF THE COUNCIL MEMBERS (who represent you)
- LET THE BOARD KNOW YOUR OPINION ON TAX INCREASES
