The Daniel Whitford Foundation Kids Fishing Contest is August 30 in Wellsville

The Whitford family and friends of the late Daniel Whitford invite your family to a catch and release kids fishing derby from 9am until 2pm on August 30th. The event will feature a free catered lunch with some experts on hand to help make sure everyone has a fun and safe day at the legendary LC Whitford pond in Wellsville.

Dan was an avid fisherman and he spent countless hours with his son Ford on almost daily fishing adventures. Another of Dan’s fishing buddies, who is simply known as “Art,” on his home Cuba Lake, will be on hand with Ford to run this event. Art, isn’t just one of the highest ranking retired military officers in history to call Allegany County home, but he is a veteran of many professional bass fishing tournaments.

Besides having two experts at the helm, a catered lunch will be provided plus prizes and give-a-ways. Ford and Art will also be overseeing a Big Bass contest also for those more experienced anglers. The LC Whitford pond is legendary for holding lots of really big fish!!!

Don’t have your own pole? Let organizers know when you RSVP and they will bring a pole and tackle to borrow for the day! Bait will also be provided and please only barbless hooks for this event. No fishing licenses are required and all kids ages 16 and under are welcome.
