Lots of different courses for both beginners and experienced artists

The Wellsville Creative Arts Center is announcing its Summer 2025 Adult Ceramic Classes, offering an exciting lineup of hands-on, skill-building sessions for artists of all skill levels. Running from June 8 through August 16, 2025, these classes will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The classes provide a great opportunity for creative growth in a supportive, studio-based environment.

These summer classes are thoughtfully designed for adults seeking creative fulfilment, whether for personal enrichment, artistic development, or simply the joy of working with clay. In a welcoming, professionally equipped studio space, participants can expect an immersive learning experience led by passionate instructors who are both talented artists and dedicated educators.

“At the WCAC, the ceramics program emphasizes not only technical skill development, but also the importance of personal expression, experimentation, and the meditative nature of working with your hands. Our classes encourage exploration, curiosity, and confidence in a community-centered setting that values creativity at every stage”, said Edward Boateng, the art’s center studio manager.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned ceramicist looking to refine your skills, the adult program features a diverse selection of classes, including:

  • Ceramic Hand building – Wednesdays, 2:00–4:00 PM
     Learn foundational techniques to shape clay by hand, perfect for sculptural and functional forms.
  • Try Clay – Saturdays, 12:00–2:00 PM
     A beginner-friendly session that introduces the basics of working with clay.
  • Beginning Throwing – Tuesdays, 2:00–4:00 PM
     Ideal for those new to the wheel, this course introduces essential wheel-throwing skills..
  • Ceramic Sculpture – Wednesdays, 5:00–7:00 PM
     Explore clay for expressive, sculptural works with guidance on structure, balance, and creativity.
  • Studio Space Rental – (Flexible schedule)
     For independent artists looking to continue their practice with access to our full ceramic studio setup.
  • Wheel Throwing (Kimberly) – Wednesdays, 6:00–8:00 PM
     A specialized course led by a featured artist, focusing on refined throwing and finishing techniques.
  • Alternative Firings – Wednesdays, 6:00–8:00 PM
     Dive into exciting firing methods such as raku and pit firing to achieve unique surface effects and finishes.

All classes are held in the Wellsville Creative Arts Center’s state-of-the-art ceramic studios, which offer a welcoming and professionally equipped environment. Instructors are experienced artists and educators committed to nurturing creativity and artistic exploration in every participant.
