BOLIVAR — Last Spring, there was plenty of history to go around between Arkport-Canaseraga and Bolivar-Richburg.
For the Wolves, they skyrocketed all the way to the top in Class D to become New York State Champions for the first time in program history. In regards to the Wolverines, their baseball dynasty blossomed tenfold with their 8th Section V title in 11 years, which also included a trip to the State Final Four themselves for the first time in 10 years.
To say that there was plenty of glorified baseball pedigree on the table, would be a massive understatement for Tuesday’s mammoth collision in Bolivar.
In the dead heat of battle early on, the two juggernauts on the diamond engaged in a lengthy stalemate, with the two defenses exchanging scoreless inning after scoreless inning. Efficiency was at its finest, despite both teams having their fair share of opportunity to strike around the bases.
Through it all, no damage was issued.
But for the Wolves, the difference was their ace in the hole — Micah Marvin.
He was nearly untouchable.
The Arkport-Canaseraga pitching stalwart was simply outstanding, as he kept Bolivar-Richburg absolutely frozen at the plate, allowing just two hits while shelling out 12 strikeouts and a walk. In return, the momentum shifted to the plate during the middle frames, breaking through the scoreless facade in a big way with four of their five runs stemming in the top of the fourth to help lay the foundation down for what transformed into a 5-0 shutout of the Wolverines.
Nearly 10 runners between each team were left on base across six straight scoreless outings on the attack between both the Wolves and Wolverines to start the game, as Marvin and Bolivar-Richburg’s Mason Baldwin commanded the mound with three straight scoreless innings of work.
With the Wolves garnering one more opportunity to try and break the ice in the third, they finally provided the crack they needed to jump out ahead first, as Devin Moran and his gargantuan two-run single set up a 4-0 lead over the Wolverines (6-4).
The defending Class D Champions went on to add one more piece of insurance in the top of the fifth, while Marvin continued to hold his end of the bargain before being relieved in the seventh inning.
The Wolves, in all, proceeded to net nine hits to go with their five runs, with Caden Carey, Bryer Drake and Drew Glover all recording a pair of hits to guide the bats.
For the Wolverines, they were held still by Marvin, with Tavyn MacDonell and Maddox Davison each posting an infield single during their first two stands of offense in the game before the Arkport-Canaseraga hurler froze the bats in place permanently.
On the mound, Baldwin went four innings, striking out three and walking four in his start.
Bolivar-Richburg will look to rebound quickly when they return to the diamond Thursday, hosting the Fillmore Eagles at 5 p.m.

HINSDALE — The road that Cuba-Rushford traveled north to Hinsdale on was one that they did not take lightly.
On Tuesday, the battle was on right out of the gate, as the two neighboring foes were kept quiet at the plate through a first three-inning sequence that saw chances come and go, but absolutely no damage was done.
Slowly but surely, it began to open up with the Bobcats taking full advantage of a massive fourth inning miscue to break the ice completely. With the Rebels still working to light their match at the plate, they received one last chance in their final at-bats of the game against the arm of Jackson Jones for the hosts.
With the top of the order looming against the Bobcats defense, Cuba-Rushford made their final stand worthwhile, as they used a combination of solid contact, special teams and huge RBI singles from Eli Sleggs and Landen Schappacher to finally demolish the barricade towards the catbird’s seat, flipping their 3-0 deficit upside down in favor of what was a 6-3 comeback victory to pop back over the .500 mark of their season.
“Jackson Jones threw well for them. We hit the ball right at guys and had some poor at-bats early on,” Rebels coach Pat Wight said. “Hinsdale battled and their bottom of the order hit the ball well. We had one big defensive miscue that gave them a couple of runs, but they were ready to roll and had us on our heels. The seventh inning, we put some real quality at-bats together, drawing walks and some timely hits to get the six runs we needed to get the win. Sleggs and (Finn) Ricketts didn’t have their best stuff tonight after not throwing for over a week, so it was good to get them some work heading into a really busy couple of weeks ahead. I’m very proud of how the guys never quit and battled until the end.”
Following an early-bird sequence that saw no more than four hitters reach the plate in five of the six combined trips to the plate for both teams, the doors were broke down by the Bobcats in a bottom of the third inning that saw two of their three ice-breaking runs score off a titanic error by the Cuba-Rushford defense after Peyton Keller initially reached base on the play.
The momentum continued to ride with the Bobcats going forward behind the guidance of Jackson Jones on the mound, who issued six straight shutout innings against the Rebels (5-4) entering the seventh inning.
But the tables would soon be turned by the visitors, as they ignited their bats on their last breath at the plate with six big runs to double their newly-acquired lead for good.
The Rebels totaled six runs off six hits, with Sleggs, Schappacher, Hayden Schappacher, Finn Ricketts, Adam Shaffer and Dean Frank (double) all scoring one each. On the mound, Ricketts was awarded the win behind four strikeouts and three walks in relief of Sleggs, who had seven strikeouts and a walk in his no-decision.
For Hinsdale (2-7), Peyton Keller went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI to lead an eight-hit supply at the dish. Chris Forney had two hits, including a double, to add in. As for Jones on the hill, the Bobcats hurler struck out eight and walked six during his start that elongated into the seventh inning.
Both teams are back to it on Thursday, with Cuba-Rushford heading back home to welcome in Genesee Valley/Belfast in a 5 p.m. first pitch, while Hinsdale looks to bounce back with a 6 p.m. trip to Andover to meet Andover/Whitesville.

ANDOVER — The offense coasted at full bore for Genesee Valley/Belfast on Tuesday before the rain started to pour once again.
With Ryan Daciw and his monstrous six-RBI night leading the way, the win was captured in full after five innings in Andover, as they rolled straight towards a 20-3 road win over host Andover/Whitesville.
Daciw unleashed his incredible fury out of the gate in the top of the first inning, striking while the iron was hot and the bases were loaded, sending a grand slam straight into orbit to help crack open the scoring for Genesee Valley/Belfast, who went on to net their 10th win of the campaign (10-1).
Daciw tallied his last two RBI a couple of innings later in the top of the third, belting a two-run single. On top of his offensive prowess, Daciw was one of eight players to register at least a hit.
While the offense was attacking at full force, Ben Cater set the tone on the hill with eight strikeouts and two walks on the mound in his four-inning start. Ethan Davenport handed out three strikeouts and a walk to cap off the team’s victory in relief.
For Andover/Whitesville (2-5), Colton Calladine led the bats with a 2-for-3 outing, scoring two runs. Carter Grice and Vinny Joyce each had a hit to add into the mix.
A complete box score was not made available to report upon publication.
The two teams will step back onto the field Thursday, with Genesee Valley/Belfast continuing their road swing with a 5 p.m. visit to Cuba-Rushford, while Andover/Whitesville looks to rebound in a 6 p.m. contest in Andover against Hinsdale.
Fillmore 23, Friendship/Scio 4 (F-5)
FILLMORE — Although the accumulation of rain over the past several days forced the action to the Town Park in Fillmore on Tuesday, it was still home sweet home for the “visiting” Eagles on the scoreboard, as they assembled an offensive outburst of epic proportions against host Friendship/Scio right out of the gate to start their week strong with a 23-4 win after five complete innings of play.
The Fillmore (6-3) offense was red hot right from the start, as every single Eagle on the lineup card all registered at least a hit to generate a 16-hit display against Friendship/Scio.
The big bat belonged to Jared Boon right at the top of the order, posting a 3-for-6 outing that saw him record a double and drive in four runs. Kalen Beardsley also had four RBI to go with his two hits. Damon Potter assembled a 2-for-3 stand with a triple, double, three RBI and three runs scored.
In addition to the offensive efforts, James Hillman and Isaac Wilcox each had two more hits to supply, while Connor McCumiskey had three RBI to help the Eagles further their cause, never looking backwards on a 9-1 lead over Friendship/Scio (0-8) after the first two innings.
On the mound, Malcolm Nusbickel claimed victory through his three-inning tenure, fanning six and walking two. In relief, Wilcox handed out six more chairs of his own, walking three.
For Friendship/Scio, Deacon Brown and Mike Wade each had two hits for the offense, with Brown driving in two runs.
On the mound, Aiden Golden went the first three innings, striking out five and walking 10. The team will return to the field over the road again tonight, as they visit Alfred-Almond for doubleheader action beginning at 5 p.m.

ANDOVER — Special teams was the key early on for the Genesee Valley/Belfast ladies, and then a devastating blow from Morgan Yackeren in the second inning provided an insurmountable extension to their advantage against Andover/Whitesville on Tuesday, as they rolled directly towards a 16-0 shutout in Andover for their 10th win of the season.
With special teams aid generating a 4-0 lead for Genesee Valley/Belfast (10-2) right away, the bats soon found some connections come the second inning, with Madison Yackeren providing a massive two-run single out of the team’s three hits in the frame.
After both teams were shut down on a 1-2-3 frame — a sequence that was achieved three straight times by the Genesee Valley/Belfast defense, the bats for the visitors then sparked.
In the top of the fourth and all the way to the end, they would press on and score nine more runs to finish off a brilliant service at the plate to score the victory in dominant fashion.
With the offense clicking, Hannah Powers was at the top of her game on the mound, holding Andover/Whitesville (3-5) to just three hits while handing out six chairs and walking two. At the plate, Powers went 3-for-5 with three runs scored to captain the efforts.
Jenna Hill, Kayla Wedge, Addison Bradt, Whitney Young and Madison Tarar all had a hit to chip in.
For Andover/Whitesville, Brynna Gaylord, Reece Winters and Emma Bentley had a hit to pace the offense. In the circle, Lilly Harrington struck out three and walked nine in her complete game.
Both teams resume play on Thursday, with Genesee Valley/Belfast hitting the road for a 5 p.m. contest at Cuba-Rushford, while Andover/Whitesville aims to bounce back with a 6 p.m. visit from Hinsdale right back in Andover.

HINSDALE — There was simply no extinguishing the bats belonging to the Cuba-Rushford Lady Rebels on Tuesday.
With the rain finally subsiding for the action to resume outdoors, the wildfire at the plate ensued, causing offensive havoc from start to finish against host Hinsdale while Lizzy Kocsis held the fort down in the circle to wrap up a 24-0 five-inning shutout.
Despite having only two hits, the latter of Arlah Shaffer’s knocks was a tremendous one to put the ribbon on a dominant night of softball, as the Lady Rebels (4-5) sophomore completed a three-hit, five-RBI night at the plate with a gigantic three-run blast in the team’s seven-run fifth inning.
The hit was on the heels of an early start that the visitors held control over, with Aubrey Williams and her back-to-back RBI doubles in the first two frames leading the way.
Alongside Shaffer, Williams, as well as Emma Bunk and Mireya Rutkowski, all had three hits to contribute from within the team’s 15-hit barrage at the plate. Claire Moyer had two hits of her own to pitch, including a double.
While the offense was heating up all throughout, Lizzy Kocsis kept the Lady Bobcats (1-9) at bay after all five innings, surrendering only three hits in the midst of a sublime eight-strikeout, two-walk performance.
As for the hosts, Kaylie Foskit, Kailey Keller and Sarah Easterly all cemented a hit onto the statsheet. In the circle, Lily Bushnell struck out five and walked nine across her three innings of work.
Both teams are back in action Thursday night, with Cuba-Rushford heading back home to host red hot Genesee Valley/Belfast, while Hinsdale travels to Andover for a 6 p.m. first pitch against host Andover/Whitesville.

FILLMORE — Mattie McCumiskey’s bat was relentless all night long for the Lady Eagles of Fillmore.
Across all fronts, the Lady Eagles junior was dialed right in from within the batter’s box, going 3-for-4 with a triple, double and six total RBI to go alongside a sterling outing from Mylee Miller in the circle, as they soared straight over top “host” Friendship/Scio in Fillmore with a 17-2 five-inning win on Tuesday.
“Mattie had an excellent night tonight,” said Lady Eagles coach Jon Beardsley. “She made two plays in the field that were next level. When Mattie is using her abilities to the max, she is fun to watch. The last couple of games in particular at the plate, she looked locked in. With her, Morghyn (Ross), Mylee and Tenlee (Miller) in the top four spots in the line-up, it really poses a threat each night out.”
McCumiskey’s impact was felt immediately after the Lady Eagles (8-2) pasted a 1-0 lead onto the scoreboard after the first inning, as she laid the lumber down on a massive two-run triple in the top of the second inning to help branch the advantage out further. Fillmore strung together three straight RBI doubles at the top of the order, along with an RBI single from Evelyn Chapman, to register a five-run frame in full to grant a 10-0 lead.
Friendship/Scio (1-7) was able to snap the shutout bid being put on by Mylee Miller in the circle, using an Alexiss Herring RBI single in the bottom half of the stanza as the spark plug for their latest term at the dish.
The scoring was ultimately finished off by the Lady Eagles with seven more runs in the top of the fourth, with an RBI double from Eleanor Reitnour and a two-run double from Morghyn Ross propelling the way forward.
In total, Fillmore pieced together a 17-run, 11-hit display of attack at the plate, with Ross and Tenlee Miller each collecting two hits, including a double.
In the circle, Miller was dominant, holding Friendship/Scio to just two hits across nine strikeouts and two walks.
As for the hosts on the scoreboard, Josilyn Kirch recorded a double as the team’s final hit behind Herring’s RBI single. On the mound, Addy Sekoll struck out one and walked three in relief.
Both teams make their return to the field in quick turnaround fashion tonight in a 5 p.m. first pitch, with Fillmore hitting the road for a visit to Portville, while Friendship/Scio heads back home to Scio to welcome in Hammondsport.

CUBA — Both Bolivar-Richburg and Cuba-Rushford scoured a pair of wins in competition during their Tuesday night back on the tennis court in Cuba.
But a third win coming by way of forfeit was awarded to the visiting Wolverines to help complete the match victory, as they used two resilient doubles matches to aid their razor-thin 3-2 victory over the host Rebels.
The doubles matches for the Wolverines (3-1) were paced by an unbelievable effort from the second doubles duo of Adalyn Griswold and Kaitlyn Lutes, as they went back-and-forth through and through against Cuba-Rushford’s James Adams and Cary Barry, scoring the 7-6 first-set tiebreak with a 7-1 win before a 4-6 second set loss was returned in exchange for a 6-4 win of their own to close out the tough fight towards victory.
Starlyn Kisel and Jamie Werner were also victorious at first doubles for Bolivar-Richburg, navigating their way through a victorious first set tiebreak to provide the strongest of finishes in what was a 7-5, 6-1 win. The Wolverines final win came via forfeit at third singles to complete the match win.
Cuba-Rushford handed in two dominant performances in the singles matches, with Adam Roe and his 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Bolivar-Richburg’s Samuel Martin paving the way at second singles. Carter Brown garnered the team’s second win in similar fashion, as he rolled past Trevor Whitsell at first singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win.
The Rebels are back on the court Thursday night at Houghton University, visiting the undefeated Fillmore Eagles at 5 p.m.
Bolivar-Richburg will quickly return to the grind tonight, as they hit the road for a 5 p.m. first serve at Alfred-Almond.

OLEAN — Another pirouetting whirlwind of rain drenched the area on Monday, putting a damper on yet another evening of action around Allegany County in an already hectic Spring season with just over two weeks left to go until Sectionals.
For the Lady Lions of Wellsville, they hopped on the bus and beat out the monsooning precipitation for battle against the Olean Lady Huskies. Right before the rain’s arrival at the very end of battle in the seventh forced an early close to the fight, the defending Class B State Champions showcased a bounty of offense in the first three innings to set the tone, as they went past their Section VI rivals with a 5-1 road win.
Wellsville (12-2) wasted no time in their opening sequence to build an early advantage over top of Olean, scoring four of their nine hits — one of them supplying the game’s first run off an RBI from Kennedy Perry.
After back-to-back 1-2-3 innings were handed out by Makenna Dunbar in the circle, the Lady Lions maintained the momentum with three more runs in the third inning off four more hits.
Dunbar continued her dominance in the circle with three straight strikeouts in the bottom of the third before Olean scavenged their first and only hit of the game. The final run for the Lady Lions came in the top of the sixth inning off a Brynn Hallock single before the Lady Huskies cancelled out the run with their first in the bottom of the sixth.
In the seventh, the rain came pouring down onto the turf complex in Olean, which forced the closure of battle after six complete innings of play, allowing the Lady Lions to fully secure a phenomenal performance despite the inclement conditions.
Leading the bats at the dish were Hallock and Teagan Burke, each recording two hits and combining for three RBI. Ayla Faulkner, Natalie Adams, Makenna Dunbar, Lindsay Stuck and Hailey Cowburn all had a hit to chip in towards the team’s nine-hit effort.
On the mound, Dunbar went all six innings to put the finishing touches on a one-hit performance, fanning seven and walking two.
The Lady Lions are back on the field Friday night over the road, visiting the Cuba-Rushford Lady Rebels at 5 p.m.

BOLIVAR — When it rains, it will usually pour. On Monday, that was the case in Bolivar.
Across the offensive front, 10 of the game’s 14 total runs were issued in the first three innings of play, with an explosive start from the Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg illuminating the way forward immediately.
But after an early pitching change from visiting Port Allegany, the complexion of the game changed completely, as they shut down the Wolverines offense across the next four innings of play.
In the same swing, the Gators catapulted into the driver’s seat with seven unanswered runs of their own to take complete control, harnessing all the momentum straight to the end to keep Bolivar-Richburg at bay with an 8-6 victory.
Bolivar-Richburg (6-3) lit the flame right in the middle of their opening at-bats, exploding off to the races with a rapid 5-0 lead of the Gators — two of those off another devastating triple from Tavyn MacDonell, that was threatened following a crucial call to the bullpen by the Gators a short time later.
With the entrance of Derek Smith onto the rubber across the next five innings of work, he was sublime, tossing four consecutive shutout innings consisting of 11 strikeouts and four walks to extinguish the Wolverines and their flame at the plate.
In return, the momentum he provided then shifted to the bats beginning in the top half of the second, where the Gators supplied the first of seven straight runs through the next three innings of play — four more stemming in a top of the third to tie the game at five before two additional runs in the fourth stanza allowed them to catapult ahead.
Despite now falling into their first deficit of the game, the Wolverines attempted to climb back late in the sixth with multiple runners occupying the bases, getting just one to come across the plate on special teams before Port Allegany retrieved the lost run in the top of the seventh for good.
The hosts were granted one final opportunity to create a level playing surface with their opposition on perhaps their best chance to walk things off.
But with the bases jammed, the Gators were able to navigate their way off the field without any more harm done on the scoreboard, as their miraculous response in the early sequences allowed them to keep their lead fully intact.
The Wolverines collected six runs off six hits, with Braden Zilker fanning one and walking three across his four inning start. On the attack, Landon Barkley paced the sticks with a 3-for-4 outing, registering a triple and scoring two runs. Tavyn MacDonell had two hits, driving in a pair. Mason Baldwin had a double.
In quick turnaround fashion tonight, Bolivar-Richburg returns to their home turf for yet another challenging battle, as they prepare to host defending Class D State Champion Arkport-Canaseraga at 5 p.m.

Fillmore sweeps road tri-match with Mt. Morris, Keshequa
NUNDA — Although the rain soaked most of the action at the Woodlynn Hills Golf Course in Nunda on Monday, the Eagles of Fillmore were able to defy the conditions and score two more victories against Mount Morris and host Keshequa through six holes of action, as they utilized Anderson Wiltsey’s team-leading round to supply a 134-150 win over the Blue Devils and a 134-149 win over the Wildcats.
Wiltsey was the top golfer out on the links for the Eagles, winners of six straight, as the Fillmore (6-1) senior assembled a team-low round of 29. Behind him was Sam Cool, who recorded a 34. Aiden Freeman pitched in a 35, while Jameson Rhett rounded off the scorecard with his round of 36.
Mount Morris was led by the medalist round of 26 shot by Rowan Clester. For Keshequa, Gavin Smit led the way with the team’s lowest round of 32.
The Eagles are back on the course Wednesday afternoon with a 4 p.m. visit to the Wellsville Country Club to meet the host Lions.

BOLIVAR — The division of a track meet right down the middle between two teams was the occuring theme that went on throughout the county on Tuesday. From upon the confines of Dunsmore-Latimer Field in Bolivar, the Bolivar-Richburg boys and the Fillmore girls track teams both fought straight down to the wire to garner the points they needed to claim the top finish at the end of the night.
For the Wolverines boys, who scored a 68-58 win over Fillmore, they pieced together seven individual first place finishes to go with two relay victories to pace the way. Leading the individual finishes were Owen Unfus, Calyn Todd and Ayden Music, as each Bolivar-Richburg competitor scored two first place finishes, with Unfus coming away victorious in the 200 and 400 dashes, Todd in the 110 and 400 hurdles, and Music in the long and triple jumps from the sand bunker.
Ren Button was the last Wolverine to add his first place win into the mix, as he galloped towards the finish line with a first place finish in the 100 dash. Bolivar-Richburg closed out action with a win in the 400 and 1600 relay events, completing a nine-win display.
The Eagles of Fillmore followed behind with six individual finishes of their own, led by Eli Strickland and Gage Hartman, who had two each. Both Eagles swept each section of competition on the track and from the field, with Strickland bringing out the brooms in both distance running events — the 1600 and 3200 runs, while Hartman swept both throwing events from the pits, earning gold in both the shot put and discus.
Jonah Sardina (800 sprint) and Landon Wright (high jump) each had a win to go with Fillmore’s 3200 relay victory.
On the ladies side of competition, it was the Lady Eagles that prevailed with a 60-53 win over Bolivar-Richburg, with Paityn Worthington’s multi-win performance igniting the team win. Worthington was triumphant with two of the team’s seven individual victories, as she sped towards victory in the 400 hurdles before garnering the longest distance in the sand with a win in the long jump.
Meyah Worthington (100 dash), Grace Walton (800 sprint), Jillian Beardsley (1500 run), Annalisa Bialek (3000 run) and Emalyn Mucher (high jump) all had a win each to add into the mix alongside a complete sweep of all three relay events.
Bolivar-Richburg was led by Nadia Baldwin and Carmen Crowley, as the two Lady Wolverines combined for five of the team’s six total first place finishes. Baldwin recorded victory with her triumphant performances in the 200 dash and shot put, as well as tied Fillmore’s Emalyn Mucher for the winning height in the high jump, while Crowley raced towards victory in the 400 sprint and then found gold in the sand pit with her winning distance in the triple jump.
Genecis Easton had the team’s last win in the discus event.
Fillmore returned to action this evening at 5 p.m. in Wellsville. As for Bolivar-Richburg, they resume regular season action on Tuesday, joining Wellsville on a trip to the Jungle in Belmont to visit Genesee Valley/Belfast at 5 p.m.

C-R boys, GV/Belfast girls perform split of Cuba tri-meet
CUBA — No school came out of Tuesday’s battle in Cuba with the outright kit and kaboodle as the Cuba-Rushford boys and the Genesee Valley/Belfast girls were at the top of their game, each recording a pair of team wins to carve the meet down the middle at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the night.
On the boys side, it was Cuba-Rushford that took their two victories in dominant fashion, as they rolled past both Genesee Valley/Belfast (73-43) and Friendship/Scio (78-32) to claim the top prize after recording 10 total victories in competition — three of them coming in a complete sweep of all three relay events.
Leading the individual winners for the Rebels was Joe Wojciechowski, who had two of the team’s seven individual wins in his back pocket, racing his way to the finish line with wins in the 800 sprint and 1600 run. Sawyer Rouse (400 sprint), Alex Linn (3200 run), Anderson Seigel (400 hurdles), Garrett Clayson (discus) and Brenton Ahrens (triple jump) all pitched in their individual triumphs along the way to set the table for victory.
For Genesee Valley/Belfast, who came away with a second place finish following a 55-40 win over Friendship/Scio of their own, it was Brayden Cooper and his electrifying three-victory performance that charged the team’s efforts, as he recorded first place finishes in the 100 dash, shot put and high jump.
Wyatt Weaver had the team’s fourth and final individual win with his top height in the pole vault.
Friendship/Scio collected two first place finishes from Jerome Harmon in the 200 dash and Dawson Mix in the long jump to fuel their efforts.
On the girls side of action, Genesee Valley/Belfast dominated the field themselves with victories over host Cuba-Rushford (83-41) and Friendship/Scio (94-24) behind three victories from Bayleigh Tallman, posting them in the 100 and 200 dashes, and the long jump events.
Right behind her was Sophie Zillgitt, who had two wins of her own to add, as she finished first in the 800 sprint and high jump.
Regina Dougherty (400 sprint), Rowan Vossler (1500 run) and Christina McAuley (3000 run) had the last three individual victories for Genesee Valley/Belfast, who also recorded a complete relay sweep of all three events along the way.
Genesee Valley/Belfast will return to regular season action Thursday night back home, hosting Salamanca at 5 p.m.
The Lady Rebels placed second after garnering a 54-41 win over Friendship/Scio, as they witnessed Brynn Lavery and Lily Tompkins record five of their six individual finishes — three of them belonging to Tompkins, who swept both the shot put and discus throwing events alongside a winning pole vault height.
Lavery brought out the brooms herself with a sweep of both hurdling events, claiming gold in the 100 and 400 hurdles. Rounding off was Karleigh Truax, who was victorious in the triple jump.
Cuba-Rushford and Friendship/Scio will both head for Houghton University to meet host Fillmore on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
